PP Plastic Formwork Range Adds Adjustable Column Molds

a modular polypropylene plastic formwork range for walls, slabs and columns has been released for export, adding adjustable square column molds and fixed circular column molds to the existing panel line. The kit ships as a hand-set system with installation handles, alignment crossbars, support pillars and through-wall tie hardware, so a wall, slab or column can be assembled without a crane and without cutting material on site.

Polypropylene Panels: Molded Accuracy, Water-Only Cleaning

Panels are molded from polypropylene, with ABS available as an alternative resin for the same panel geometry. Both are thermoplastics that take a mold accurately: edges come out square, the face comes out smooth and unblemished, and the dimensional repeat between panels is close enough that the formed concrete inherits that accuracy. It shows most where the concrete is left exposed, on columns, boundary walls, pool walls and stair sides, because the face needs no patching or plastering afterwards.

The molded face also releases cleanly. Concrete does not bond to it, so after each pour the panel is washed with water rather than scraped, and it returns to the rack ready for the next lift. There is no plywood face to swell, delaminate or leave fibre in the surface, and no sealing coat to renew between pours. Panels are joined with standard installation handles and through-wall tie hardware, while alignment crossbars and support pillars hold the assembly true, which keeps the pour flat without extra timber bracing.

Adjustable Column Molds: One Set, Many Column Sizes

Circular column molds are supplied in 300, 350, 400 and 450 mm diameters at 750 mm height, each weighing roughly 12 to 17 kg, so a column can be set, checked and struck by hand. Adjustable square column molds extend coverage further. A set of four panels with 36 clips wraps the column, and adjustment units add about 100 mm per unit, so a single set spans a footprint from roughly 150 x 150 mm up to 650 x 650 mm.

That range is the practical argument. A project column schedule normally holds several sizes, and one adjustable set covers the schedule instead of one dedicated mold per size. Rectangular columns are handled by the same panels at different extensions, and the panels are interchangeable between columns once a pour has been stripped.

Specification Summary

Parameter Typical Range or Specification
Material polypropylene (PP) panels, ABS available as an alternative resin, injection molded
Size Range wall and slab panels up to 1500 x 1200 mm at 65-78 mm thickness; circular column molds 300-450 mm diameter x 750 mm high; adjustable square column sets covering about 150 x 150 mm to 650 x 650 mm
Application walls, columns, slabs, swimming pools and other formed structures in low- and mid-rise buildings
Surface Finish molded smooth panel face with a water-release surface; replaceable corner guards at panel corners
Panel Weight infill panels under 10 kg; the largest wall panels around 27 kg
Column Mold Thickness 78mm for both circular and adjustable square column molds
Connection installation handles, clips, tie rod, nuts and plastic sleeves; alignment crossbars and support pillars
Reuse 80-100 typical cycles when cleaned with water after each pour

Site Workflow Without Cranes

The system is sized for the way small and mid-sized sites actually work. Panels are light enough to be carried by one worker, and the largest formats are a two-person lift, so the set travels up on a hoist or by hand and needs no lifting machinery. Assembly is modular and follows marked positions, which means a crew with no previous experience of the system can set walls, columns and slabs from the layout drawing rather than from measured templates.

Because no crane sits in the cycle, formwork does not wait behind steel or precast deliveries, and a small contractor can run a floor without renting lifting equipment for the formwork phase. Striking follows the same pattern: panels come off, are washed, and are stacked dry for the floor above. Replaceable corner guards absorb the wear that would otherwise retire a panel, so a damaged corner is swapped rather than the whole panel.

Reuse, Repair and End of Life

Plastic panels return roughly 80 to 100 pours under normal site handling. Wear concentrates at corners, edges and clip slots, which is why the corner guards are replaceable and why panels are stored flat rather than dropped on their edges. At the end of their working life the panels are still thermoplastic, so they can be recycled instead of going to site waste alongside consumed form ply.

For projects carrying a waste management plan, a documented reuse count and a recyclable formwork set are straightforward to report, and they replace the recurring purchase of plywood and the disposal cost attached to it.

Applications and Market Significance

The range suits low- and mid-rise work with repeated geometry: villa and townhouse developments, apartment blocks, boundary and retaining walls, columns and beams, swimming pool shells, and small civil structures where a steel or aluminium set would be over-specified for the repetition on hand. Columns benefit most, because the adjustable set absorbs the size changes that a dedicated mold would otherwise force a buyer to order separately.

For buyers in Southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, the deciding factors are usually entry cost, shipping volume, and whether an unskilled crew can be productive quickly. Flat-stacked panels ship compactly, the kit arrives complete with handles, clips and tie hardware, and the handling weights stay inside what two workers can manage without plant. Panel layout drawings and 3D modelling of the structure are prepared before production, and remote or on-site support can be arranged for the first casting cycle.
