For contractors managing large-span concrete slab projects—such as commercial buildings, parking garages, and residential towers—construction speed and formwork efficiency directly impact profitability. The Alu Skydeck Formwork System (also known as aluminum table form or flying form system) offers a powerful solution: lightweight aluminum components, rapid assembly, and an integrated early stripping design that delivers fast floor cycles with minimal on-site material requirements.
Alu Skydeck is a modular aluminum slab formwork system designed for efficient concrete floor construction. It consists of lightweight aluminum panels, main and secondary beams, telescopic adjustable props, and drop-heads that enable early stripping. The system is manufactured from high-strength 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, offering excellent durability and a long service life of up to 300 uses.
The system's key innovation is its drop-head early stripping mechanism. This allows formwork panels and secondary beams to be removed just one day after concrete pouring (depending on slab thickness and concrete strength), while the props and drop-heads remain in place to support the curing slab. This design enables rapid cycling of formwork components to subsequent floors, significantly reducing on-site material requirements.
Manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, Skydeck components are remarkably light. The largest panel (750×1500mm) weighs only 16.2 kg, and the main beam weighs approximately 15 kg. A complete table assembly can be handled by 2–3 workers without crane assistance, reducing both labor costs and equipment requirements. The powder-coated frame also makes cleaning fast and effortless.
The drop-head allows striking after just one day (depending on slab thickness and concrete strength). The formwork is lowered by 60 mm with a hammer blow, releasing panels from the concrete effortlessly. For the contractor, this means less on-site formwork material is required, as beams and panels are freed up for the next concreting cycle. The drop-head principle enables more flexible scheduling—early stripping can be carried out even during poor weather or when personnel have spare capacity.
Despite its light weight, the system offers impressive structural strength. Aluminium props support working loads of up to 90 kN, allowing lower prop density—approximately 0.3 pieces per square meter only. The system is suitable for slab thicknesses up to 109 cm in any height.
The system uses a range of panel sizes (750×1500mm, 750×750mm, 500×1500mm, 500×750mm, 375×1500mm) and beam lengths (3750mm, 2250mm, 1500mm). Special accessories are available for infill areas around columns or slab edges near walls. The panels lock securely into position, making the system easy to learn—even unskilled staff can handle it quickly.
